Box turtles can be quite sensitive about their shells. Willow should've been more considerate of its feelings. On a side note, I had a box turtle in my teens. Her name was Daishiki, and she liked neck scratches and cat food.

What makes a box a box?
it has six sides and no locks,
pull in the head, tail and feet
then it's a box turtle's retreat
